Today, Mitt Romney announced that he has chose Paul Ryan to be his Vice Presidential running mate just before embarking on a four-day bus tour through key battleground states . His shortlist has been known for quite some time but the Huffington Post leaked it early, citing two separate sources last night.
Democrats welcome this pick and are eager to run against Ryan’s radical budget cuts, which are not very popular among seniors because it proposes huge slashes in Medicare and other social services. This is not an argument Republicans want to have as they are trying to remain focused on the economy.
However, Conservative Republicans will also welcome Mr. Ryan as a hardline fiscal conservative, he could serve to energize the Tea Party which could help to boost voter turnout, something both sides see as a key in the upcoming election.
